About the Role
Jackson Hayes Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a welcoming primary school in Saltash, Plymouth.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s learning and wellbeing and wants to make a positive impact within a supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom activities
- Work with individual pupils and small groups to support learning and development
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment
- Assist with the preparation of learning resources and classroom displays
- Observe and support pupils’ progress, sharing feedback with the teacher
- Support pupils with additional needs in line with school guidance
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and confidence
- Follow the school’s safeguarding, behaviour, and health & safety policies
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children in a primary school setting
- Ideally SEN experience but not essential
- A good understanding of child development and the primary curriculum
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A caring, patient, and proactive approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
Desirable
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies
- Relevant training or qualifications in education or childcare
