Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Operations / Contract Manager to oversee and manage the dedicated transport operation for our client, Thatchers Cider. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant management of a fleet of 25 vehicles, executing an efficient delivering plan, providing an excellent service, and maintaining strong working relationships with the client and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Management

Take overall responsibility for the Thatchers Cider transport contract, reporting directly to the Operations Manager.

Ensure full operational and legal compliance across the contract, maintaining adherence to agreed service levels, contractual obligations, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Deliver and exceed customer expectations while managing budgets effectively and driving cost-efficient service delivery.

Act as the primary point of contact for Thatchers, building strong relationships and conducting regular service and performance review meetings.

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement initiatives to enhance operational performance and customer satisfaction.
Fleet Operation:

Manage daily operations of a fleet comprising 25 trucks, operating nationwide.

Coordinate with drivers and transport teams to ensure timely deliveries and optimal route planning.

Monitor fleet performance and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
People Skills:

Ensure development of your direct reports and wider team.

Build and maintain strong working relationships at all levels.

Resolving disputes promptly and professionally.

Provide guidance and support on labour relations issues, ensuring alignment with organisational policies.
Operational Oversight:

Analyse delivery data to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements.

Collaborate with internal teams such as procurement, operations, and People & Culture to ensure service levels are met and exceeded.

Drive adherence to health, safety, and regulatory compliance standards within delivery operations.
Requirements:

Proven experience in contract management within the logistics or transport industry.

Strong understanding of fleet operations and compliance standards.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to analyse data and implement effective operational strategies.

Relevant qualifications in logistics, transport management, or a related field are desirable.

Transport Manager CPC
Desirable requirements:

Relevant qualifications in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.

Experience in budget management and financial analysis.

Familiarity with retail operations and customer service principles.
