About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded HR Generalist to join our People team. This is a hands-on role, with a particular focus on employee relations, including the management of investigations and disciplinary proceedings. You will act as a trusted point of contact for managers and employees, providing pragmatic, legally compliant HR support across the business.
What You'll Do
- Independently lead and manage formal HR investigations, including grievances, disciplinary matters, and workplace conduct issues from initial concern through to resolution.
- Chair disciplinary and grievance hearings, presenting findings, making recommendations, and producing outcome letters to a high standard.
- Manage appeal processes, ensuring consistent, fair, and legally sound outcomes.
- Coach and advise line managers on handling people matters at all stages, from informal conversations through to formal proceedings.
- Maintain thorough and confidential case records throughout all ER matters.
- Support managers and employees with day-to-day HR queries, providing pragmatic, legally compliant guidance.
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including drafting job descriptions, advertising roles, shortlisting, coordinating interviews, and managing offers.
- Coordinate new starter onboarding and carry out inductions.
- Assist in the development, review, and communication of HR policies and procedures.
- Liaise with payroll on starter, leaver, and contractual change information, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Any other tasks deemed suitable by line manager.
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable, hands-on experience managing disciplinary, grievance, and investigation processes end-to-end — this is a core requirement of the role.
- Confident chairing formal hearings and producing high-quality written outcomes independently.
- Sound knowledge of UK employment law and its practical application in the workplace.
- Previous experience in a generalist HR role covering multiple areas of the people function.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility and influence managers at all levels.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage a varied and fast-moving workload.
