Tom’s Chop House is one of Manchester’s most historic independent restaurants, serving the very best of British food and drink for over 150 years. Established in 1867, we pride ourselves on quality ingredients, traditional hospitality, and being a genuine Manchester institution.
We are now looking for an ambitious Junior Sous Chef to join our kitchen team and support the delivery of exceptional food in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
The Role
Working closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, helping to maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the management team in the daily operation of the kitchen
- Leading service periods and ensuring dishes are delivered to specification
- Assisting with stock control, ordering, and waste management
- Training and developing junior members of the kitchen team
- Maintaining food safety, health & safety, and company standards
- Taking responsibility for sections and deputising for senior chefs when required
Experience
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef
- Passion for fresh, quality food and traditional British cuisine
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to perform under pressure during busy services
- A positive attitude and willingness to lead by example
- Good understanding of food safety and kitchen compliance
- A team player who takes pride in their work
