Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially aware Cost Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates, quotations and pricing information for projects and client requirements. You will work closely with suppliers, project teams, engineers and commercial colleagues to assess materials, labour, equipment and other project costs.
This is a great opportunity for someone with estimating, procurement, engineering, construction or manufacturing experience who enjoys working with numbers, analysing requirements and producing accurate commercial proposals.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, quotations and pricing proposals for projects and customer requirements.
- Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project documentation to determine cost requirements.
- Obtain and compare supplier quotations for materials, equipment and services.
- Calculate labour, materials, overheads and other project-related costs accurately.
- Maintain estimating databases, pricing information and supplier cost records.
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, sales and project teams to develop competitive estimates.
- Identify potential cost risks, discrepancies and opportunities for cost savings.
- Support the preparation of commercial proposals and provide clear explanations of pricing assumptions.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in cost estimating, commercial analysis, procurement, engineering or a related field.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications or project documentation.
- Good understanding of materials, labour costs, supplier pricing and commercial principles.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with spreadsheets and financial data.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills when dealing with suppliers and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates, deadlines and priorities effectively.
- Relevant qualification or experience in engineering, construction, manufacturing, quantity surveying or business is desirable.
Pay: £2,667.00-£3,500.00 per month
