EXPERIENCED COCKTAIL BARTENDERS WANTED
GWENDA – Hackney Wick / Fish Island, London
£16.50–£20.50 per hour, depending on experience and performance
GWENDA is looking for experienced cocktail bartenders who genuinely love hospitality and take pride in their profession.
We’re not simply looking for someone to cover shifts. We want people who understand that being a great bartender is about much more than knowing how to make a good Negroni.
It’s about the complete job.
Cocktail quality and consistency. Cleanliness. Organisation. Presentation. Customer service. Speed when it gets busy. Looking after your station, your stock and your equipment. Knowing what needs to be done without waiting for the manager to tell you every five minutes.
And when the bar is quiet, that doesn't automatically mean break time.
Quiet moments are part of the job: clean, polish, restock, prep, check your station and make sure you're ready for the next rush.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Strong cocktail knowledge and previous bartending experience
- Excellent knowledge of classic cocktails and spirits
- Consistency and attention to detail
- Clean and organised working habits
- Great customer service and presentation
- Speed and confidence during busy service
- Ability to work independently
- Good stock awareness and respect for equipment
- Reliability and punctuality
- Team mentality
- Initiative and problem-solving
- A professional attitude from the beginning to the end of every shift
- NO DRUGS AND ALCOLH DURING THE SERVICE
We want bartenders we can trust.
People we can confidently leave behind the bar knowing that the same standards will be maintained whether the manager is standing next to them or not.
We don't want to micromanage good bartenders. Quite the opposite.
If you know your job, demonstrate responsibility and maintain high standards, we want to give you the space and trust to do what you do best.
There are also some basic professional standards that are non-negotiable.
No drinking during service.
No drug use during service.
No disappearing for unnecessary smoking breaks.
These aren't complicated rules. They're simply part of working professionally in hospitality.
At the same time, GWENDA isn't a corporate bar.
Personality is welcome. Creativity is welcome. New cocktail ideas are welcome. Passion is very welcome.
We're building an independent venue around cocktails, music, food, art, events and the local community, and we'd like to build a team of people who actually want to be part of that journey.
PAY: £16.50–£20.50 PER HOUR
Your rate will depend on your experience, cocktail knowledge, professionalism and the level of responsibility you can take on.
Following an initial paid trial shift, we'll agree the appropriate hourly rate based on what you demonstrate behind the bar: quality, speed, consistency, organisation, customer service and your ability to work independently.
If you're an experienced bartender who can confidently run your station, maintain excellent standards and take responsibility without constant supervision, you'll be considered for the higher end of the pay range.
We're not looking for perfection.
We're looking for passion, professionalism, responsibility and trust.
If cocktails and hospitality are genuinely something you care about, and you're looking for a place where good work is recognised and trusted, we'd love to hear from you.
Send us your CV and a little bit about yourself, your experience behind the bar and why you'd like to join GWENDA.
Pay: £16.50-£20.00 per hour
