The Opportunity
CB1 Pharmacy is seeking an organised, commercially minded and data-driven Inventory & Commercial Operations Coordinator to join our growing team on an initial fixed-term contract.
This is a full-time, on-site role within a specialist private pharmacy focused on the dispensing of cannabis-based medicinal products (CBMPs). The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring medicines are available when patients need them, whilst maintaining exceptional standards of governance, compliance and operational efficiency.
This role combines inventory management, purchasing, demand forecasting, supplier management and operational analytics. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving operational challenges using data, technology and AI-enabled tools to optimise stock availability, reduce waste and improve commercial performance.
As demand continues to grow, this role will become increasingly important in supporting a safe, efficient and commercially successful pharmacy operation.
About CB1 Pharmacy
CB1 Pharmacy is a specialist online pharmacy dispensing private prescriptions for cannabis-based medicinal products to patients across the UK.
We operate within strict regulatory frameworks to prevent diversion and misuse of unlicensed medicines. All processes are governed in line with GPhC standards and internal SOPs.
Working closely with CB1 Medical, our vertically integrated model supports safe prescribing, dispensing and delivery within a controlled, compliant pathway.
The Role
As the Inventory & Commercial Operations Coordinator, you will take ownership of pharmacy inventory, ensuring medicines are available, accurately recorded and managed efficiently throughout their lifecycle.
You'll work closely with pharmacy, procurement and operations teams while using reporting, forecasting and AI-supported tools to anticipate demand, optimise purchasing decisions and minimise financial waste.
Success in this role requires strong organisational skills, commercial thinking, analytical capability and a continuous improvement mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate stock levels across medicines and consumables, including Controlled Drugs.
- Ensure inventory is managed efficiently to prevent shortages, excess stock and unnecessary waste.
- Manage batch control, stock rotation and expiry monitoring.
- Maintain accurate stock locations and inventory records across pharmacy systems.
Purchasing & Demand Planning
- Forecast future stock requirements using business trends, prescribing data and AI-supported tools.
- Support purchasing decisions that balance patient demand, stock availability and commercial performance.
- Monitor supplier performance and help maintain continuity of supply.
- Identify trends and opportunities to improve inventory planning.
Goods In & Operational Support
- Receive deliveries and verify stock against purchase orders.
- Ensure medicines are stored correctly in accordance with GDP requirements and pharmacy standards.
- Support efficient operational workflows across the pharmacy.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure all stock handling complies with GPhC, MHRA and internal SOP requirements.
- Maintain complete and accurate inventory records.
- Support stock audits, investigations and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Produce regular inventory and stock performance reports.
- Monitor KPIs including stock availability, expiry losses, wastage and inventory accuracy.
- Use technology, automation and AI-enabled tools to identify opportunities for operational improvement.
- Recommend and implement improvements that enhance efficiency, scalability and commercial performance.
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Minimum one year's experience managing stock within a pharmacy, dispensing hub or healthcare supply environment.
- Strong understanding of stock control, batch management and expiry management.
- Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Confident using spreadsheets, inventory management systems and digital tools.
- Comfortable analysing data and using AI-enabled tools to support forecasting, planning and operational decision-making.
- Commercial mindset with an understanding of balancing availability, efficiency and cost.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, regulated healthcare environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable
- Experience using RxWeb, Titan, CDSmart or other pharmacy management systems.
- Knowledge of Controlled Drug stock management.
- Experience within a specialist or medical cannabis pharmacy.
- Experience using Power BI, Microsoft Excel, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot or similar AI and analytics tools to improve operational performance.
