About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Quality professional to take ownership of our food safety, quality, and compliance systems within our animal and pet food manufacturing operations.
Reporting directly to senior management, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, customer requirements, and certification standards, while fostering a strong culture of quality across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Develop, review, and implement company policies, procedures, and work instructions
- Lead and maintain HACCP and food/feed safety systems
- Ensure compliance with FEMAS and NOPS Assurance scheme requirements
- Manage product specifications, labelling, and artwork approvals to meet legal standards
- Plan and coordinate internal and external audits
- Investigate non-conformances and complaints, implementing effective corrective actions
- Deliver training on quality, GMP, HACCP, and compliance standards
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Quality Control team
- Oversee quality monitoring, testing programmes, and product release processes
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, certification bodies, and regulatory authorities
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a Quality, Technical, or Compliance role within animal feed, pet food, food manufacturing, or a related sector
- Strong understanding of HACCP principles and food/feed safety systems
- Experience managing quality systems and regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of FEMAS and NOPS Assurance standards (desirable)
- Experience developing procedures, policies, and training materials
- Understanding of product labelling and legal compliance requirements
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- HACCP qualification (Level 3 or higher preferred)
- Degree or equivalent in Food Science, Animal Nutrition, Quality Management, or a related field (desirable)
- Internal Auditor qualification (advantageous)
