English Tutor (KS2 – GCSE)
Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable English Tutor to join our growing tuition centre. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons to students from Key Stage 2 to GCSE level, helping them build confidence, improve academic performance, and achieve their full potential.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator who enjoys working in small groups and providing personalised support to students preparing for school assessments and GCSE examinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons for students from KS2 to GCSE.
- Teach English Language and, where appropriate, English Literature in line with the UK National Curriculum.
- Prepare students for SATs, school assessments, and GCSE examinations.
- Identify each student's strengths and areas for improvement and adapt lessons accordingly.
- Create a positive, supportive, and motivating learning environment.
- Mark students' work and provide constructive feedback to parents and students where required.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate attendance and lesson records.
- Work collaboratively with the Centre Manager and other tutors to ensure high teaching standards.
Requirements
- Degree in English or a related subject, or an equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience teaching or tutoring students up to GCSE level.
- Strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum and GCSE exam requirements.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to explain concepts clearly and inspire confidence in learners.
- Reliable, organised, and committed to helping students achieve their academic goals.
- An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) is desirable.
