Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanic/MOT Tester, but not essential, but would be an, to join our dynamic automotive team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with MOT (Ministry of Transport) standards. Your expertise will help keep vehicles on the road in top condition, providing peace of mind to our customers and supporting the smooth operation of our service center. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify mechanical issues and safety concerns in accordance with MOT requirements
- Perform repairs and maintenance using a variety of hand tools and power tools to restore vehicles to optimal condition
- Carry out MOT testing procedures accurately, ensuring all vehicles meet legal safety standards before certification
- Use mechanical knowledge to diagnose problems, recommend solutions, and execute necessary repairs efficiently
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks involving engine components, tires, or other vehicle parts while adhering to safety protocols
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and MOT test results for each vehicle serviced
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and work areas are kept clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations
Requirements
- Proven mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in vehicle repair and maintenance
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and socket sets
- Experience operating power tools safely and effectively within an automotive setting
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling engine parts or other heavy components
- Knowledge of MOT testing standards and procedures is highly desirable but not essential; training can be provided for the right candidate
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a busy environment
