Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and committed individual to take on a key role supporting the safeguarding, welfare and progress of our students.
As part of this role, you will act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, supporting the safeguarding team and responding to concerns as they arise. You will play an important part in ensuring that students receive the right support and interventions to help keep them safe, engaged and progressing successfully through their education.
You will also be responsible for leading and supporting a team of Student Progress Mentors (SPMs). This will include providing guidance, supervision and support, as well as monitoring student attendance and identifying where additional intervention is needed. You will work closely with colleagues across the college to put effective support plans in place, helping to improve attendance, engagement, retention and student outcomes.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with and supporting young people within an educational environment. You will have a strong understanding of safeguarding and the challenges that young people may face, particularly within a Further Education setting.
You should be confident in managing staff, leading initiatives and working collaboratively with different teams and departments. A proactive and solution-focused approach is essential, along with the ability to develop and deliver effective interventions that make a positive difference to young people.
Essential Requirements
- Management qualification at Level 5 or above, or currently working towards a relevant qualification.
- Trained as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- A strong understanding of the current challenges and issues affecting young people within Further Education.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and guidance, including Equality and Diversity and SEN.
- Experience of supporting young people within an educational setting.
- A proven ability to develop and deliver successful interventions that support positive outcomes for young people.
- Experience of managing, leading or supporting staff and teams.
- Experience of successfully leading initiatives or projects across a college or wider organisation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and other stakeholders.
- A proactive, organised and solution-focused approach.
Pay: £200.00-£300.00 per day
