About the role
Primeguard Carpet Care LTD is looking for reliable, motivated, and hardworking carpet & upholstery cleaning operatives to support a professional cleaning contract based in Swansea libraries.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in doing a job properly, and wants to learn specialist carpet and upholstery cleaning skills. Previous carpet cleaning experience is not essential, as full training will be provided. However, experience in cleaning, manual work, facilities, hospitality, laboring, or similar hands-on roles would be beneficial.
The work will involve cleaning carpets, carpet tiles, entrance matting, fabric chairs, soft furnishings, and other upholstery items in public library buildings across Swansea. Because the work needs to cause minimal disruption to library users and staff, most shifts will take place early in the morning or overnight.
Key duties
Your duties may include:
- Assisting with professional carpet and upholstery cleaning in Swansea library buildings
- Setting up and packing away equipment safely
- Using hot water extraction machines, rotary machines and other specialist cleaning equipment after training
- Cleaning fabric chairs, sofas, carpet tiles, entrance matting and high-traffic areas
- Helping with stain treatment, deodorizing, and general fabric care
- Moving light furniture safely where required
- Placing warning signs and managing hoses/cables to keep work areas safe
- Following health and safety, COSHH, and manual handling procedures
- Keeping work areas tidy and respecting public buildings
- Supporting job sheets, site checks and completion records when required

- Good at working independently and as part of a small team
- Ideally based in or near Swansea
- Able to arrange their own transport to Swansea work locations
- Comfortable travelling in the company van on rare occasions if required
Requirements
Applicants should ideally have:
- Previous cleaning, manual labour, facilities, hospitality or similar experience
- Good attention to detail
- A positive attitude and willingness to be trained
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and nights
- Right to work in the UK
- References if requested
- Willingness to complete relevant checks, including DBS checks where required
Training provided
Full training will be provided, including:
- Carpet cleaning methods
- Upholstery cleaning methods
- Safe use of cleaning equipment
- Stain treatment basics
- COSHH and safe chemical use
- Manual handling
- Health and safety procedures
- Working safely in public buildings
This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical specialist cleaning skills while working on a professional local contract.
Working hours
This is a zero-hours PAYE role. Work will be offered depending on contract requirements and library cleaning schedules.
Most work will be early morning or overnight, so applicants must be flexible and comfortable working outside normal daytime hours.
