Broadland View Care Home is looking for experienced, reliable and compassionate Night Senior Care Assistants to join our friendly team.
We are a residential care home supporting older people living with dementia. We are recruiting for both full-time and part-time night positions and are looking for confident senior carers who can provide safe, respectful and person-centred care while supporting and leading the night care team.
The Role
As a Night Senior Care Assistant, you will take a lead role during the night shift and help ensure residents receive safe, effective and compassionate care throughout the night.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supporting the night care team throughout the shift
- Allocating duties and ensuring all required tasks and resident checks are completed
- Supporting residents with personal care, continence care, repositioning and comfort needs
- Completing and overseeing scheduled wellbeing and safety checks
- Supporting residents who may wake during the night feeling confused, anxious or distressed
- Providing calm reassurance and emotional support to residents
- Supporting residents with food, drinks and hydration where required
- Assisting residents with mobility and safe transfers
- Responding promptly to call bells and requests for assistance
- Ensuring individual care plans, risk assessments and night-time routines are followed
- Monitoring residents for changes in their health, behaviour or wellbeing
- Responding appropriately to changes in residents’ health and escalating concerns where necessary
- Communicating with healthcare professionals, emergency services, on-call management and relatives where appropriate
- Ensuring care records are completed accurately and at the point of care
- Completing clear and effective handovers to the day team
- Supporting staff to maintain high standards of care throughout the shift
- Ensuring safeguarding concerns, accidents, incidents and medication concerns are reported and escalated appropriately
- Supporting with medication administration where trained and competent to do so
- Ensuring medication procedures and MAR documentation are followed correctly
- Maintaining a safe, calm and comfortable environment throughout the night
- Supporting with light domestic duties where required
- Ensuring staff follow safeguarding, infection-control, moving and handling, medication-safety and confidentiality procedures
- Acting as a positive role model and providing guidance and support to care staff
- Reporting any concerns regarding staffing, resident care or service safety to management
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Is compassionate, patient and respectful
- Has previous experience working within health or social care
- Has experience supporting older people and/or people living with dementia
- Has previous senior care experience or is an experienced care assistant ready to progress into a senior role
- Is confident leading and supporting a care team during a night shift
- Is reliable, punctual and able to work throughout the night
- Can remain calm and make appropriate decisions in challenging or unexpected situations
- Can recognise changes in a resident’s health or wellbeing and escalate concerns appropriately
- Communicates clearly with residents, colleagues, relatives and healthcare professionals
- Understands the importance of dignity, privacy, choice and person-centred care
- Can maintain accurate care documentation and complete clear handovers
- Has a good understanding of safeguarding and duty of care
- Is willing to complete all required training and competency assessments
- A relevant health and social care qualification, such as Level 2 or Level 3 Health and Social Care, is desirable.
Applicants who are not already medication trained may be required to complete medication training and competency assessments as part of their role.

We are currently offering:
- Full-time night contracts
- Part-time night contracts
- £14.50 per hour
Applicants must be available to work a flexible rota, including weekends and bank holidays.
