Financial Accountant
Long-established international clothing manufacturer dedicated to the design, development, and production of garments for several leading clothing retailers requires a Financial Accountant to join its finance team in Durham.
As a Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role in helping to manage our financial operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our overhead accounts, preparing financial reports, supporting our financial planning and analysis activities and managing VAT and payroll processes.
Responsibilities will include:
· Preparation of monthly overhead reports and balance sheet
· Variance analysis
· Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
· Preparation and submission of VAT returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements and deadlines
· Processing and administration of payroll, including PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, statutory payments, and payroll reporting
· Preparation of budgets
· Preparation of forecasts
· Preparation of cash flows
· Reviewing internal procedures
· Ensuring compliance with accounting standards
· Preparation of presentations to management
· Any other reasonable tasks as determined by the manager.
Skills and Requirements:
· Qualified to AAT Level 4
· Excellent communication and presentation skills
· Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritise effectively.
· Proven experience in a financial accounting role.
· Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns.
· Experience processing payroll.
· Strong IT knowledge and literacy, specifically in Microsoft Excel.
· Ability to use Microsoft PowerPoint proficiently.
· Experience of working with JD Edwards accounting software would be an advantage.
· A confident, proactive approach to problem solving.
