Job Summary
We are seeking caring, enthusiastic, and reliable Play Support Workers to support children aged 5–11 years with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) during our holiday club programme.
The successful candidate will provide individualised support on a 1:1 basis or within small groups (1:2 ratio), helping children participate in structured, play-based activities that promote social interaction, communication, confidence, independence, and enjoyment.
Working within a supportive and inclusive environment, you will use structured play approaches, sensory activities, creative tasks, movement-based games, and social interaction exercises to encourage engagement and developmental progress. You will play a vital role in helping children feel safe, valued, and included while supporting their emotional, social, and physical wellbeing.
Comprehensive training, guidance, and ongoing supervision will be provided to develop your skills and confidence in supporting children with autism and additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support children aged 5–11 with Autism Spectrum Condition to participate fully in structured play and activity sessions.
- Provide tailored support on a 1:1 or small-group basis, adapting approaches to meet individual needs.
- Facilitate activities that encourage communication, social interaction, confidence, creativity, and participation.
- Create a safe, positive, and nurturing environment where children can explore, learn, and have fun.
- Supervise children throughout the programme, including transitions, breaks, and free-play periods.
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating patience, empathy, professionalism, and enthusiasm.
- Maintain effective communication with supervisors, colleagues, and parents/carers where appropriate.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour support procedures at all times.
- Assist with setting up, organising, and tidying activity areas and resources.
- Promote inclusion, wellbeing, and equal opportunities for all children attending the programme
Skills & Qualifications:
- A passion for supporting autistic children and children with additional needs in a social setting.
- A passion for working with children, particularly those with SEN or in a play-based setting.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage children in play and interact effectively with parents and professionals.
- Patience, empathy, and a willingness to learn about autism and ABA principles.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of safeguarding procedures (training will be provided).
