Marketing Manager
Tractor Ted · Frome, Somerset · [Full-time / 4 days]
Everyone's favourite little green tractor is looking for a Marketing Manager
Tractor Ted started over twenty years ago with one film, one farm and one very good idea: that little children are fascinated by real farming, and nobody was making anything for them.
Two decades on, Tractor Ted films are watched by tens of millions of children around the world— on Prime Video, Apple TV, YouTube and our own streaming service — and loved in homes, garden centres, gift shops, farm shops and farm parks across the country. We make films, publish books, make games and toys, run live events and sell both direct to families and trade customers in the UK and internationally.
We're a small team with a big brand and genuine ambition. We know there is far more growth available to us than we're currently capturing, and we're looking for the person who can go and get it.
The role
This is a hands-on, commercially-minded marketing role with real ownership. You'll lead marketing across the business — brand, campaigns, e-commerce and trade — working closely with our Trade Sales Manager, Social Media Manager and reporting directly to the Managing Directors.
The brief is simple to say and satisfying to do well: grow sales, and grow the brand. You'll own the plan that connects the two.
You'll be based at our offices in Frome, Somerset, where the team works together most days.
What you'll be doing
Driving online sales
- Owning the marketing plan for tractorted.com — driving growth; traffic, conversion, average order value and repeat purchase
- Running paid and organic acquisition across search, social, and affiliates, with a clear eye on return
- Building our email and CRM programme into a genuine revenue channel — welcome journeys, seasonal campaigns, lifecycle, win-back
- Growing subscriptions to Tractor Ted TV and getting more value from our platform audiences
- Planning and implementing web sales strategies
- Helping establish an operation in the USA
Supporting trade sales
- Working with our trade customers — farm shops, national garden centre brands, farm parks, toy and gift retailers — to give them the assets, campaigns and point-of-sale that help product move
- Producing trade-facing marketing: brochures, launch packs, trade show presence, sell-in materials
- Making sure our retail and D2C activity pull in the same direction rather than competing
Building the brand
- Working together on the brand plan: how Tractor Ted looks, sounds and shows up everywhere from a packaging insert to a TV platform tile
- Planning campaigns around new content, product launches, licensing partners and events
- Partnering with our Social Media Manager on content that's genuinely worth watching — working together to set the direction and the goals, they'll bring it to life
- Press and PR, influencer and partner marketing, and the occasional brilliant idea nobody asked for
Measuring all of it
- Setting the targets, tracking the numbers, and telling us honestly what's working and what isn't
What we're looking for
We care much more about what you can do than about ticking every box. But you'll probably recognise yourself in most of this:
- Previous marketing experience, ideally with a consumer brand selling online — Shopify experience is a real plus
- Genuinely comfortable with performance marketing and the numbers behind it: you can read a report, spot the problem and change the plan
- Strong on brand and craft too — you know that a beautiful campaign that doesn't sell is a failure, and a campaign that sells but cheapens the brand is a slower failure
- Experience in the US market a plus but not essential.
- A doer. We're a small team, so you'll be writing the brief, approving the artwork and checking the campaign went out and reporting on the results
- Warm, collaborative and good with people — you'll be working with a small in-house team, freelancers, trade customers and licensing partners
- Organised, with the discipline to run several things at once and finish them
- Ambitious for the brand, and happy to say when you think we're getting something wrong
Bonus points for: experience in children's, family or licensed brands; retail or wholesale marketing; email/CRM platforms; video and streaming; a genuine soft spot for the countryside.
You don't need to know your combine from your forage harvester on day one. You will by the end of your first month.
Why you'll like it here
- A brand that people already love — you're not starting from zero, you're building on twenty years of goodwill
- Real ownership and a short route from idea to live
- A small, friendly, unbureaucratic team in a lovely part of Somerset
- Work that's genuinely wholesome: helping little children understand where their food comes from and how the countryside works
- Highly competitive salary
- Holiday allowance, pension, staff discount, flexible working, other benefits
How to apply
Send your CV and a short note to [email address] telling us:
- One piece of marketing you've done that you're proud of, and what it delivered
- One thing you'd look at first if you joined Tractor Ted
No need for a formal covering letter — we'd rather hear how you think.
