We are looking for a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Personal Carer to support a 29 year old male with Cerebral Palsy and quadriplegia within their home, during errands, and on day trips. He uses Eye Gaze technology to communicate and is fully competent in expressing needs, opinions, and choices.
This is a rewarding opportunity to provide truly person-centred care while building a positive and professional relationship with both the individual and their family. The role is based within a private family home, so maintaining a calm, respectful, and supportive environment is essential.
You will support all aspects of daily living, helping to promote independence, dignity, comfort, safety, and emotional wellbeing. Working closely with the individual, family members, and wider care team, you will provide practical, physical, and emotional support tailored to personal preferences and care needs.
Maternity cover - minimum 12 month contract with a permanent role for the right person and fit within the team.
Full time and part time roles available.
Weekends and evening included on a rolling rota so you can plan ahead. (av. 2/4 weekends or 1 weekend day per week)
Personal Care & Physical Support
- Assist with all aspects of personal care including washing, bathing, grooming, shaving, dressing, oral care, and toileting
- Support safe repositioning, transfers, and mobility using hoists and safe moving & handling techniques
- Assist with wheelchair positioning and mobility support
- Support feeding, hydration, and meal preparation according to individual preferences
- Monitor skin integrity and physical wellbeing
- Support swimming sessions alongside another carer
Household & Daily Living Support
- Carry out housekeeping duties including laundry, cleaning, and maintaining a safe home environment
- Support shopping, prescription collection, and appointments
- Drive the individual using their adapted vehicle where required
- Encourage participation in hobbies, social activities, work events and community access
Emotional & Social Support
- Provide companionship, encouragement, and respectful emotional support
- Promote independence, choice, and dignity at all times
- Build a trusting and professional relationship with the individual and family members
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
Record Keeping & Safety
- Maintain accurate care records and incident reports
- Follow safeguarding, infection control, manual handling, and health & safety procedures
- Respond calmly and appropriately in emergency situations

Desirable Qualifications & Training
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards this
- Moving & Handling certification
- Medication Administration training
- First Aid training
- Experience supporting individuals with Cerebral Palsy, neurological conditions, or complex physical needs
