Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Shift Leader to oversee daily operations within our busy hospitality environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary and kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional service. This role involves supervising team members, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and fostering a positive working atmosphere. The Shift Leader will play a key role in maintaining high standards of food preparation, cooking, and customer satisfaction while managing operational tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of team members during assigned shifts to ensure smooth operations.
- Oversee food preparation and cooking processes, ensuring quality and consistency in all dishes served.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations at all times.
- Assist with food production tasks as needed, including preparing ingredients and final dishes.
- Manage team schedules, delegate tasks, and motivate staff to achieve performance goals.
- Monitor customer service standards, addressing any issues promptly to maintain a high level of hospitality.
- Support training initiatives for new staff members and ongoing development for existing team members.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and service areas throughout the shift.
- Collaborate with management to optimise operational efficiency and implement new procedures or menu items.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen roles within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Supervising experience with a strong background in team management and leadership.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food production environments.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication skills to lead teams and interact with customers professionally.
- Experience in hospitality, including serving or barista work, is advantageous but not essential.
- Previous experience in restaurant or hotel environments is preferred.
- A proactive attitude with a passion for delivering outstanding customer service and culinary excellence.
