Senior IT and Technology Consultant

Aon is seeking a Senior IT and Technology Consultant to join our Digital M&A Advisory practice in London.
The team advises private equity investors, infrastructure funds and corporate clients on technology, IT, cyber and digital risks across acquisitions, portfolio companies and strategic transformation initiatives. Our work spans IT due diligence, technology risk assessments, cloud and infrastructure reviews, digital transformation strategy, technology operating models, cybersecurity considerations, and post-transaction value creation.
This role is ideally suited to a technically strong consultant with a background in enterprise IT, cloud technologies, infrastructure architecture, technology operations, digital transformation, or technology risk management. Previous M&A experience is not required.
You will work directly with investors, C-suite executives, technology leaders and operational stakeholders to help clients understand technology risks, identify improvement opportunities and make informed investment and business decisions.
This is a fast-paced, client-facing role offering significant exposure to a broad range of industries and technologies.

About the Role
Your impact as a Senior IT and Technology Consultant:
You will be responsible for supporting and delivering technology advisory engagements across private equity and corporate clients, including:

Supporting the delivery of IT and technology consulting services across a diverse client base.

Conducting technology and IT due diligence assessments to identify risks, opportunities and value creation initiatives.

Assessing enterprise architecture, infrastructure, cloud environments, technology operations, IT service management and digital capabilities.
-
Evaluating technology organisation structures, governance models, operating models and IT processes.
-
Reviewing technology roadmaps, digital transformation programmes and strategic technology investments.

Assessing the scalability, resilience, performance and security of critical IT environments.
-
Identifying technology-related operational, financial and execution risks and communicating findings to senior stakeholders.

Supporting technology separation, integration and transformation planning where required.

Assessing technology and cybersecurity risks across enterprise environments, identifying potential operational, resilience and security vulnerabilities that could impact business performance, digital transformation objectives or investment outcomes.

Collaborating with cybersecurity specialists to evaluate key security capabilities, governance frameworks, cloud security controls, identity and access management practices, and overall cyber resilience as part of broader technology advisory engagements.

Producing high-quality reports, presentations and executive briefings.

Managing project workstreams and supporting engagement delivery across multiple concurrent projects.

Working closely with colleagues across technology, cyber, M&A and risk advisory disciplines.

Supporting business development initiatives, proposal development and client relationship management.

Contributing to the continued development of the team's methodologies, tools and market offerings.

Supporting client engagements across the UK and EMEA.
About you
Your knowledge and expertise:
Technical
-
Demonstrable experience in technology consulting, enterprise IT, technology risk, cloud engineering, infrastructure architecture, digital transformation or a related field.
- Strong understanding of enterprise IT environments and modern technology architectures.
- Experience assessing or managing one or more of the following:
- Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS and/or Google Cloud)

Experience evaluating technology risks, technical debt and technology investment requirements.
- Solid understanding of core cybersecurity principles and their application within enterprise IT and cloud environments, including security architecture, identity and access management, vulnerability management, incident response and technology resilience.

Experience identifying and assessing technology and cyber-related risks within complex IT environments, with the ability to communicate technical findings and business implications to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
