Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machine Setter/Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines to produce high-quality components. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical processes, tooling, and precision measurement. The ideal applicant will have experience with various manufacturing techniques, including grinding, milling, and plastics injection moulding, and possess solid knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks. Responsibilities
- Set up and programme CNC machines according to specifications, ensuring accurate operation for each production run
- Operate CNC equipment safely and efficiently to produce parts that meet quality standards
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machinery to minimise downtime
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised tooling to prepare machines and components for production
- Conduct inspections using basic math and measurement tools to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Assist with assembly processes when required, including welding and plastics injection moulding tasks
- Maintain a clean and organised work area in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with engineering teams to optimise machining processes and improve productivity
Experience
- Proven experience in operating CNC machines within a manufacturing setting
- Knowledge of grinding, milling, CAD (particularly Fusion) and plastics injection moulding processes is highly desirable
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, tooling setup, and basic math skills for measurements and calculations
- Experience working with assembly tasks involving plastics or metal components is advantageous
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
