Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a hardworking and reliable Yard Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient yard environment, with key duties including jet washing, preparing and painting containers, and assisting with the general upkeep and organisation of the yard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation and painting of containers, including sanding, masking, priming, and applying topcoat paint to a professional standard.
- Jet washing of containers, plant equipment, and other items as required.
- Carrying out basic repairs and maintenance on containers.
- Loading and unloading goods, materials, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Keeping the yard clean, organised, and hazard-free at all times.
- Assisting with stock checks and inventory control.
- Following all company health and safety procedures and wearing PPE as required.
- Supporting other team members and departments when necessary.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Previous experience in a similar role or in a yard/warehouse environment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of painting, including spray or brush techniques (training may be provided).
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical fitness – role involves manual handling and standing for long periods.
- A proactive, can-do attitude and strong attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Experience working with shipping containers or metal structures.
- Basic mechanical or maintenance skills.
