Bookkeeper (Full or Part Time – minimum 28 hours)
Littleborough, Rochdale
An established and growing accountancy practice based in Littleborough is looking to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper to join our friendly team. This is a full or part-time position, offering the opportunity to work with a varied portfolio of clients in a supportive and professional environment.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Processing monthly bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
- Posting month-end journals provided by other departments.
- Reconciling balance sheet control accounts, including bank, PAYE/CIS and VAT, and investigating any discrepancies.
- Identifying and resolving bookkeeping queries, ledger anomalies and reconciliation differences.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have solid bookkeeping experience with a strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Be proficient in bookkeeping software; experience with Xero is highly desirable.
- Be confident reconciling control accounts and investigating discrepancies.
- Have excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be organised, able to prioritise your workload and consistently meet client deadlines.
- Be capable of working independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
Experience within an accountancy practice and managing bookkeeping for multiple clients would be advantageous. However, candidates with strong bookkeeping experience gained in industry are also encouraged to apply.
