We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our busy and growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional looking to develop their skills within a supportive and collaborative environment.
About the Role
As Finance Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. Working closely with the finance team, you will be responsible for payroll processing, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end activities, and contributing to ongoing process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll
- Process weekly wages and monthly salaries for approximately 100 employees.
- Ensure payroll is completed accurately and on time.
- Support year-end payroll submissions and reporting requirements.
- Work in collaboration with HR, absence reporting and adhoc queries.
Sales Ledger
- Maintain and update customer ledgers.
- Assist with forecasting and reporting.
- Reconcile accounts and support credit control activities.
Purchase Ledger
- Process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and process supplier payment runs.
VAT & Compliance
- Complete quarterly VAT reconciliations and submissions.
- Ensure compliance with financial controls and procedures.
Funding & Reporting
- Undertake monthly funding reconciliations.
- Support quarterly audits conducted by external funding bodies.
- Assist with financial reporting and data analysis.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Support ad-hoc finance projects and system enhancement initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of finance processes and controls.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in a finance, accounts, payroll, or bookkeeping role.
- Demonstrates excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Is confident working with financial systems and spreadsheets.
- Has strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Can manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Desirable Experience
- Sage 50 Accounts experience.
- Sage Payroll experience.
- Manufacturing sector experience.
Please note: these are advantageous but not essential, as training can be provided for the right candidate.
Working Hours
Monday to Thursday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
Friday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
