The Black Lion Hotel is looking for an experienced and motivated Housekeeping Supervisor to lead our housekeeping department and ensure our beautifully restored hotel is maintained to the highest possible standards.
This is a management role reporting directly to the General Manager. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the housekeeping department, leading the housekeeping team and ensuring every guest experiences a clean, welcoming and exceptionally presented hotel.
We're looking for someone who takes pride in high standards, leads by example and enjoys developing and supporting their team.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the housekeeping department.
- Leading, motivating and supporting the housekeeping team.
- Reporting directly to the General Manager.
- Planning daily room allocations and team workloads.
- Inspecting guest bedrooms and public areas to ensure they consistently meet company standards.
- Ensuring all bedrooms are ready for guest arrivals within required timeframes.
- Training, coaching and developing housekeeping team members.
- Conducting inductions and supporting performance management where required.
- Producing staff rotas and managing annual leave requests.
- Monitoring labour costs and productivity within the department.
- Managing stock levels and ordering housekeeping supplies.
- Ensuring all COSHH, Health & Safety and company procedures are followed.
- Reporting and following up on maintenance issues.
- Working closely with Reception and other departments to deliver an excellent guest experience.
- Maintaining excellent cleanliness standards throughout all guest and back-of-house areas.
- Leading by example and creating a positive, professional working environment.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a housekeeping supervisory or management role within hospitality.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach with the confidence to make decisions independently.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Good time management and the ability to prioritise workloads.
- Flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays as required.
