Job Summary
Seabird Margate is recruiting for a senior chef to help lead our kitchen team.
Initially working with out outgoing Head Chef (who is leaving for her maternity), you will help take the reins during the busy summer season, and help take the kitchen into the winter.
This role would be a great opportunity for an experienced junior chef looking to move into their first senior role, or for a more experienced chef looking for a new challenge. This is a full time and permanent (non-seasonal) role.
You will be will be serving a range of dishes with a focus on seasonal ingredients and dishes made from scratch.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook dishes according to the menu and customer preferences.
- Oversee all aspects of food preparation, ensuring adherence to food safety regulations and standards.
- Work with the directors and executive chef to introduce new dishes and menus.
- Manage inventory and order supplies as needed to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Monitor portion control and presentation of dishes to ensure consistency and quality.
- Assist in menu planning and pricing strategies to optimise profitability while maintaining quality.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Chef in a restaurant, cafe or similar environment
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary arts, and food safety standards.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
- Passion for hospitality and commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills with the capability to multitask effectively in a busy kitchen setting.
- A relevant culinary qualification is desirable but not essential; practical experience is highly valued.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £12.21-£17.00 per hour
