Overview
We're looking for a driven, hands-on Sales Manager to lead from the front and take our sales team to the next level.
Based at our Sunderland head office, this role sits at the heart of our business, shaping both the performance and development of our people. You'll manage and coach a team of outbound sales professionals, spot opportunities for growth, and make sure our people have the skills and mindset to succeed.
We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads with real impact, and brings a blend of operational discipline and coaching flair — someone who lives our values as much as we do.
Our Values
Everything we do is guided by five values, and this role is a natural home for all of them:
- Driven — you set the standard for results and hold yourself and your team accountable for hitting them.
- Always Learning — you build a culture of continuous improvement, for yourself and everyone around you.
- Do the Right Thing — you lead with integrity, even when no one's watching.
- Earn Customers' Trust — you make sure every customer interaction reflects well on the business.
- One Tribe — you build a team that pulls together, supports one another, and wins as one.
The Role
- Own the sales team's performance end to end — setting clear targets, tracking progress, and taking personal accountability for the results delivered (Driven)
- Provide consistent, on-the-ground leadership to the sales team, driving motivation, accountability, and high performance (Driven)
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics — spotting trends, addressing underperformance early, and driving continuous improvement (Driven, Always Learning)
- Hold individuals to account for their own numbers and behaviours, having honest, constructive conversations when performance falls short (Driven, Do the Right Thing)
- Design and deliver training interventions that build both product knowledge and sales capability (Always Learning)
- Identify skills gaps and put tailored coaching plans in place to support individual and team progression (Always Learning)
- Keep the team informed of market shifts, customer trends, and competitor insights, so they sell with confidence and credibility, and always represent the business honestly (Earn Customers' Trust, Do the Right Thing)
- Act as a culture leader — approachable, reliable, and trusted, setting the tone for how we work (Do the Right Thing, One Tribe)
- Build a high-performing, supportive team environment where people pull together and hold each other to account (One Tribe, Driven)
- Report regularly to the Channel Director, presenting KPIs, progress against targets, and development plans, and owning any gaps between the two (Driven)
About You
- Proven experience managing or supervising a high-volume outbound sales team, ideally B2B and phone-based.
- Experience in the energy industry is preferable but not essential.
- A strong track record of delivering performance through others — coaching, developing, and inspiring people to exceed targets (Driven)
- Someone who takes ownership of results, good or bad, and expects the same accountability from their team (Driven)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, KPI-driven environment with a clear focus on results.
- Strong commercial awareness, with a solid understanding of the sales cycle and customer journey, and a genuine focus on doing right by the customer (Earn Customers' Trust)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to give feedback that motivates and drives real improvement (Always Learning)
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and confident using CRM and reporting tools.
- Resilient and adaptable, able to handle pressure while keeping the team focused and engaged (One Tribe)
- Acts with honesty and integrity, and does the right thing even when it's the harder call (Do the Right Thing)
- Responsible and consistent, with a strong commitment to upholding company policies and people management practices, while supporting and guiding the team to maintain high standards (Do the Right Thing)
- Proactively identify and communicate ideas through the appropriate channels to drive continuous improvements in processes, efficiency, and team performance (Do the Right Thing)
- Professional, articulate, and computer literate.
