Role Purpose
The Commercial Coordinator will support the effective day-to-day operations of the Rations business unit by acting as a key point of contact between customers, suppliers, logistics and internal teams. The role is responsible for raising and managing purchase orders and sales orders, resolving supply chain and order related issues, and ensuring customer queries and complaints are handled promptly and professionally.
This is a non-managerial, execution focused role working under the direction of the Rations management team.
Main duties / responsibilities
- Act as a primary point of contact for the day-to-day communication with customers and suppliers within the Rations business unit.
- Raise, issue and manage purchase orders (POs) to approved suppliers and secure customer POs for smaller customers and ad-hoc orders.
- Monitor order progress and proactively chase suppliers and customers to ensure agreed delivery dates are met.
- Liaise closely with the logistics team to coordinate inbound and outbound deliveries and resolve transport, documentation or delivery issues.
- Identify, manage and help resolve supply chain issues, escalating risks or delays to the Business and Development Manager where appropriate.
- Handle customer queries, concerns and complaints in a professional manner, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the ERP system, ensuring orders, POs and related documentation is correctly recorded.
- Support the Rations management team with administrative and coordination tasks as required, including reporting and internal communication.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams including planning, procurement, logistics and finance to ensure smooth order fulfilment.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in line with company policies, procedures, and contractual and commercial requirements.
Person specification
Experience
- Experience in a commercial, customer service, supply chain, logistics or procurement support role.
- Practical experience of raising and managing purchase orders and sales orders.
- Experience liaising with customers and suppliers in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Experience using an ERP system (e.g. Navision / Business Central or similar) is desirable.
Competencies
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Clear, professional communicator, both written and verbal.
- Well organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
- Good understanding of commercial and supply chain processes.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team and under the direction of a manager.
