The Role:
RSPCA Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire Branch is a separately registered charity, affiliated to RSPCA England and Wales.
The Holdings is the Branch’s rescue and rehoming centre, where we currently rehome up to 400 animals a year; caring for cats, dogs, rabbits and small animals (not birds or exotics).
We are seeking a Centre Manager. The successful applicant will possess excellent leadership and management skills, will be motivated to ensure best practice, exceptional standards of care, and be familiar with the governance requirements to run a small-sized business.
As a separately registered charity we have to raise our own funds within our own Branch area; therefore, the role requires a proactive individual with commercial skills and exceptional knowledge of managing a team. Your ability to inspire, motivate and value the existing team: both staff and volunteers, is vital, and key to the centre’s success in a financially challenging world.
You will be familiar with Health and Safety requirements, Human Resources legislation, writing, reviewing and implementation of policies, procedures and guidance; and ensuring relevant training and competencies are embedded.
Knowledge of animal welfare and procedures are desirable but not essential, as we can develop and increase your knowledge and skills in these areas, to enable you to support animal care at weekends, and occasionally during Animal Care Assistant absences etc. However, you will demonstrate a strong vision for how best to support animals moving forwards, and ideally have some personal or professional animal care history.
Applications are being sought from highly motivated individuals, who will take pride in playing a pivotal role in the future development of the centre, its staff and volunteers. The Holdings team currently includes 7 substantive staff and <30 regular volunteers; so, the role would be suitable for someone who has been in a Supervisor, or Team Leader’s role; or managing in a smaller business, and is ready to develop their career further in a friendly and welcoming setting.
Candidates should possess a good basic education, excellent computer skills and a full driving licence.
RSPCA Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire Branch CIO is committed to equal opportunities.
