MicroNet Global is an IT Managed Services provider with 22+ years' experience supporting the hospitality sector across the UK, US and Middle East. We're looking for a 2nd Line Infrastructure & Platform Engineer to join our Service Delivery team in Watford.
The role
You'll take ownership of complex incidents escalated from 1st Line and help keep our customers' core platforms secure, stable and performing. It's a hands-on technical role with real breadth — Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, networking, backup and endpoint security — and plenty of project work alongside the BAU.
This isn't a ticket-closing job. We take an engineering-led approach: root cause analysis, automation, and permanent fixes rather than repeat visits to the same problem.
What you'll be doing
- Owning and resolving escalated 2nd Line incidents, service requests and problems within SLA
- Administering Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune) and Azure environments
- Managing Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy
- Supporting firewalls and networking (FortiGate, Ubiquiti, VPN and connectivity)
- Maintaining backup and disaster recovery platforms, and responding to monitoring alerts
- Carrying out root cause analysis and implementing approved changes
- Supporting endpoint security, patching and vulnerability remediation, and investigating phishing and account compromise
- Keeping customer documentation current in IT Glue and mentoring 1st Line colleagues
What we're looking for
- 3+ years' 2nd Line engineering experience, ideally within an MSP
- Strong troubleshooting across infrastructure and core networking
- Solid Microsoft 365 and Azure administration experience
- Excellent written and spoken communication — you'll deal directly with customers, from technical teams up to senior leadership
- Organised, proactive and comfortable working independently under pressure
- Relevant Microsoft certifications (AZ-104, AZ-500, MD-102, MS-500, SC-300 or similar), or a genuine appetite to achieve them
- Full UK driving licence preferred — occasional customer site visits
Nice to have: Autotask, Acronis, Datto EDR, IT Glue, VSA X, Cisco, DrayTek, Barracuda, Darktrace, Meraki MDM, Proofpoint, PowerShell, KQL, CCNA, Network+, ITIL 4 Foundation.

- £35,000 – £45,000 depending on experience, plus paid overtime
