About the Role
The school is looking for a motivated and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join its support team.
You will work with pupils across Primary and Secondary, providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support. Your role will extend beyond academic assistance, helping pupils manage barriers to learning, develop positive behaviours and become more confident and independent learners.
You will need to be adaptable, as every day can be different and pupils may require different approaches depending on their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN
- Support pupils across both Primary and Secondary age groups
- Help pupils engage with lessons and complete classroom activities
- Adapt tasks and resources to make learning more accessible
- Support pupils with behavioural, emotional and social needs
- Encourage and reinforce positive behaviour throughout the school day
- Help pupils develop strategies to manage emotions and challenging situations
- Build positive, consistent and trusting relationships with pupils
- Encourage independence, resilience and self-confidence
- Support pupils with transitions between lessons and activities
- Work alongside teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams to implement individual strategies
- Contribute to monitoring pupil progress and behaviour
- Provide feedback to teachers and relevant staff regarding pupil development
- Support pupils during lessons, breaktimes, lunchtimes and school activities
- Help maintain a safe, calm and inclusive environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN is essential
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational or care setting
- Experience providing 1:1 or small-group support
- Experience supporting pupils with behavioural or emotional needs
- A patient, calm and consistent approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to build genuine relationships with pupils
- Confidence supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- The flexibility to work with different age groups and individual needs
- A genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to education
- Relevant SEN, Teaching Assistant or childcare qualifications are desirable
- Must have a DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply

Pay: £95.00-£115.00 per day
