Overview
We're looking for an experienced, senior-level HGV Technician to step into a Shift Supervisor role. This is a permanent position where you'll split your time between hands-on technical work—diagnostics, air brakes, powertrain, MOT prep—and leading a team, mentoring fitters, and managing workshop workflow. With minimum guaranteed earnings of over £49,300 even at the lower salary range, this is a clear career progression opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections, diagnostics, and complex repairs to DVSA standards
- Prepare and present vehicles for MOT; support tacho bay compliance
- Lead and mentor a team of HGV Technicians
- Plan and allocate daily workload, ensuring workshop efficiency and quality
- Uphold health, safety, and compliance across all workshop activities
What You'll Need
- Proven experience as a senior-level HGV Technician in a commercial workshop
- Recognised Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (NVQ/City & Guilds/IMI)
- Strong technical knowledge of air brakes, powertrain, diagnostics, and MOT preparation
- Leadership experience or supervisory training is highly advantageous
- Class 1 (C+E) licence is preferred; tacho card knowledge is advantageous
- Full UK driving licence
