We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Complex Paediatric Support Worker to join our compassionate team at Yorkshire Community Care, supporting a 12-year-old client. Our client is a bright, resilient young girl with Cerebral Palsy and respiratory instability, requiring home ventilation and having experienced PICU admissions. She is gastrostomy-fed and has a number of allergies, so attention to detail and a calm and confident approach is essential.

Our client is a young girl with so much to offer with the right support. Due to her autism, she sometimes displays behavior's that challenge and needs staff who can recognise early signs and respond calmly and confidently. She enjoys routine, encouragement and staff who can make everyday activities engaging and fun.
She communicates non-verbally, so being observant, patient and attuned to body language and other forms of communication is essential. You will help her maintain her health, independence and wellbeing, supporting with mobility, personal care and clinical tasks such as PEG feeding, tracheostomy care, and postural management.
Responsibilities
- · Deliver personalised, high-quality care and support tailored to the client’s individual needs.
- · Assist with daily living activities including personal hygiene, mobility and meal preparation.
- · Tracheostomy management.
- · Administer medication and monitor health and wellbeing, responding appropriately to any changes.
- · Support community access, accompanying the client on outings, ensuring accessibility and safety.
- · Provide emotional support, encouragement and companionship.
- · Maintain accurate records of all care provided and report any concerns promptly.
- · Work collaboratively with family members and healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care.
Requirements
- Valid nursing qualification and registration with the appropriate regulatory body.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology to provide effective patient care.
- · Proven experience working with paediatric clients, particularly those with complex medical needs, is essential.
- Experience with Cerebral Palsy, PEG feeding, and seizure management is highly desirable (training can be provided).
- Confident supporting home ventilation and monitoring respiratory status.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Energetic, positive, and empathetic personality.
- Awareness of accessibility needs, including wheelchair-friendly routes, transport and venues.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider care team.
- Flexibility to work 12-hour daytime shifts.
