As an Interactive UX-UI Designer within the Digital Media Lab, you will play a central role in designing and shaping immersive interactive experiences across XR (Extended Reality), virtual reality, augmented reality, and web-based learning environments. You will contribute to the planning, research, prototyping, and delivery of user-centred educational applications, gamified learning systems, virtual laboratories, and immersive media experiences.
You will support UX and UI strategy and design across XR and interactive media projects, ensuring intuitive, accessible, and engaging user experiences across multiple platforms including VR, WebXR, mobile, and desktop applications. You will collaborate closely with Unity developers, 3D artists, producers, educators, and researchers to translate complex requirements into meaningful and effective immersive experiences.
You will also contribute to establishing UX/UI best practices, design systems, interaction standards, and research-driven workflows to support scalable and maintainable XR media production.
- Proven experience in UX/UI design for digital products, interactive applications, or immersive experiences, with a strong portfolio demonstrating user-centred design.
- Practical experience designing for XR, VR and/or AR environments, including immersive, spatial and interactive user experiences.
- Strong understanding of UX methodologies, human-centred design principles, accessibility standards, and usability best practice.
- Experience conducting user research, usability testing, accessibility evaluation, and translating insights into effective design solutions.
- Proficiency in industry-standard UX/UI design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Unity, or similar platforms.
- Experience creating wireframes, interaction flows, prototypes, design systems, and responsive user interfaces across multiple platforms.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to gather requirements, present design concepts, and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and translate complex technical requirements into intuitive user experiences.
