Olive kitchen Somerset: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Head Chef to support our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supervising kitchen operations, managing food production, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and high standards of food preparation.
- Supervise and support kitchen staff, including cooks and junior chefs, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.
- Contribute to menu planning, recipe development, and food presentation to maintain consistency and innovation.
- Manage food production processes, ensuring timely delivery of dishes without compromising quality.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards across all kitchen activities.
- Monitor stock levels, assist with inventory control, and ensure proper storage of ingredients and supplies.
- Support training programmes for new staff members and ongoing skill development for existing team members.
- Assist with serving customers when required, ensuring excellent customer service standards are met.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a professional kitchen environment, ideally with restaurant experience.
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management.
- Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.
- Extensive knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hospitality settings.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
- Experience in menu development, food presentation, and maintaining high standards of quality.
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and other departments.
