About the team
The DCPCU is a unique specialist pro-active police team with a national remit, formed as a partnership between the City of London Police, the Metropolitan Police Service, the UK banking industry trade association UK Finance and the Home Office.
The DCPCU is fully sponsored by the banking industry. The unit’s on-going brief is to investigate card and payment fraud crimes.
The DCPCU has a national remit to identify and target the Organised Crime Groups responsible for card and payment crime. The DCPCU operational strategy uses the same framework adopted by HM Government in its Serious and Organised Crime Strategy, and its strategic aims mirror the four areas of: Pursue, Prevent, Protect and Prepare.

About the role
This post is the Property Store Manager for the DCPCU. This is an essential part of the policing infrastructure and provides support to ongoing investigations. The DCPCU has a dedicated property store where exhibits from DCPCU cases are kept pending the completion of investigations and trials. The property system is governed by CoLP policies and processes and requires a dedicated Property Officer to ensure compliance and assist officers with safe keeping of exhibits and retrieval for court, return to owner or disposal.
The Property Officer must be able to work closely in a team off the CoLP footprint, be self-motivated and meticulous with record keeping, run periodic property checks for accuracy and to track items out of the store.
The role is part time from Tuesday to Thursday 0800 - 1700.
The DCPCU has a 12-month budget from UK Finance but has been running for 24 years.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Manage and maintain storage room to ensure fit for purpose and in line with Force policy
- Manage exhibits whilst in storage, preventing cross contamination and ensuring exhibits can be retrieved easily
- Maintain the force property system, including cross-referencing and verifying information held in disparate force systems
- Manage requests for retrieval of property in support of ongoing operational matters
- To review evidential property to establish the requirement to retain or dispose.
- Liaise with Digital Forensics Unit to ensure continuity of exhibits
Requirements
