W13 Ltd is currently seeking a permanent Construction Buyer based in the West Midlands to support our growing portfolio of residential new build projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in construction supply or a builders’ merchant environment, or an experienced Buyer within residential construction, looking to join a hands-on, fast-growing business.
The Role:
As a Construction Buyer at W13 Ltd, you will work closely with our site teams, commercial department, and procurement function to manage the end-to-end purchasing process. This includes conducting take-offs, preparing tenders via Intend, and ensuring timely, cost-effective supply of materials across multiple active sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies
- Prepare material schedules and quantity take-offs
- Issue enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors
- Analyse quotations and negotiate competitive rates
- Place orders for materials and plant in line with programmes
- Work closely with the commercial team on budgets and cost analysis
- Identify cost-saving and value engineering opportunities
- Coordinate deliveries with site teams to meet project timelines
- Track materials, monitor usage, and minimise waste
- Maintain procurement systems, supplier databases, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and company procedures
About You:
- Proven experience in a buying or procurement role
- Ideally from a construction or builders’ merchant background
- Good knowledge of residential construction materials
- Highly organised with a methodical approach
- Strong negotiation and commercial awareness
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- IT literate (Excel, Word, and ability to learn new systems)
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years in the construction industry (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year in a buying/procurement role (preferred)
