Family First are a Christian Charity working in Ipswich, Suffolk.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated person for this part time, self-employed role supporting families in Ipswich. The role will be up to 12 hours per week. Managing a case load, a Family Worker is trained to work with families by listening, helping them find solutions to their challenges and bringing hope into their lives. They would use an empowerment-based approach to help the family meet their goals and may work alongside or signpost to other agencies to ensure a holistic approach to best support the families.
The Family Worker must ensure a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
Interviews will be held either 1st or 3rd September.
The Family Worker would commit to attending initial training prior to starting the role and any ongoing training identified by them or their Family Coordinator.
Tasks and responsibilities:
· Adhere to all Family First policies and procedures including Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Data Protection (GDPR) and Confidentiality.
· When matched with a family, commit to meeting each family for a minimum of once a fortnight, but usually once a week, in the family home or other pre-agreed location.
· Work with families to identify goals and make progress towards them. This will include regular reviews
· Cotemporaneous and accurate record keeping.
· Signpost to and/or work alongside other agencies and services as required.
· Participate in regular supervision, initially every four weeks and then every six to eight weeks, as agreed with the supervisor and in line with growing understanding and competence in the role.
· Through the recruitment processes, staff will be aware of our Christian Ethos and Statement of Faith. They should show a clear understanding of and dedication to these values through their work. This will include attending regular team meetings which include a time of prayer.
Qualifications
- Experience working with vulnerable families
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and training.
- A clean driving license and access to a car.

The ideal candidate would be available to work up to 12 hours. Mondays are a mandatory work day for all team members. For this post the ideal would be to work the remaining hours over a Thurs/Fri but exact hours will be agreed with the candidate.
