Chef – Cantonese Noodle Bar | Full Training Provided
Hee Kee Restaurant is looking for an experienced kitchen professional to join our Cantonese Noodle Bar team.
Previous experience in Cantonese or Chinese cooking is NOT required. Full specialist training will be provided.
We are looking for someone who already has experience working in a professional kitchen, understands the pace and discipline of a busy restaurant, and is interested in developing specialist skills in traditional Hong Kong and Cantonese noodle cooking.
This is a full-time, permanent position with structured training and opportunities for long-term career progression within our growing restaurant group.
What You Will Learn
Full hands-on training will be provided in:
- Traditional Hong Kong and Cantonese noodle preparation
- Cooking and handling different types of noodles
- Soup and broth preparation
- Preparation of meats, toppings and accompaniments
- Blanching and cooking techniques
- Portion and quality control
- Mise en place and station organisation
- High-volume noodle service
- Food cost and waste control
- Company recipes, procedures and food safety standards
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the noodle section efficiently during service
- Prepare and cook noodles, soups, toppings and accompaniments to company standards
- Maintain consistency in taste, portion size, temperature and presentation
- Complete daily mise en place and preparation
- Manage multiple orders accurately during busy service periods
- Monitor stock and prepare appropriate quantities according to demand
- Minimise unnecessary food waste
- Maintain a clean, organised and food-safe workstation
- Follow company recipes, SOPs and food safety procedures
- Work closely with chefs and other kitchen sections to maintain smooth service
What We Are Looking For
Cantonese or Chinese cooking experience is not required.
Applicants should have:
- Previous experience working in a professional or commercial kitchen
- Good basic knife and food preparation skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety
- Ability to follow recipes and standard operating procedures consistently
- Good organisation and time-management skills
- Willingness to learn new cooking techniques
- A reliable and responsible attitude
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- The legal right to work in the UK
Previous experience as a Chef, Cook, Chef de Partie, Commis Chef or experienced Kitchen Assistant would be suitable.
Pay & Benefits
- £15.00–£18.00 per hour, depending on experience and ability
- Full-time, permanent position
