Overview
As a Family Time Support Worker you will be part of a team that delivers safe and supportive family time and child contact for children and those that are important to them.
In this role, you will facilitate positive, supervised family interactions, helping to strengthen bonds and promote healthy relationships. Your energetic approach and compassionate attitude will create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive and families can rebuild trust.
Duties
- Provide structured, supervised family visits to ensure a safe and supportive environment for children and their families
- Support families in engaging in positive interactions, encouraging communication and relationship building
- To offer and provide advice, guidance and support to parents and families when required
- To assist in making arrangements for contact between children, their carer and families.
- To keep up to date records
- To prepare reports for court, meetings and reviews, as required
- Support with the transport of children
- To liaise regularly with social workers and other professionals involved with the child / young person / family
- Participate in meetings and reviews, as and when required
- To be part of the rota that may include some evening and weekend work
Skills, Experience and Knowledge
- Prior experience working with babies and children, demonstrating knowledge of child development and safe practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, families and professionals
- Experience and knowledge of safeguarding procedures and good practice
- Pro-active and child-focused, to ensure that family time is delivered in children's best interests
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and proactive in stressful and potentially challenging situations
- Excellent observational skills to assess family interactions and identify needs effectively
