Schedule: Flexible, primarily Monday-Friday
Crown Finish Ltd is looking for an experienced, reliable and capable Multi-Skilled Maintenance Operative to join our growing maintenance team.
This is initially a flexible zero-hours position. Work will depend on jobs received by the company and could range from occasional weekly jobs to several days of work during busier periods.
This is not a trainee position. Applicants must have sufficient practical experience to attend suitable maintenance jobs independently and complete work to a professional standard.
Pay
Our standard hourly rate for this position is £20.00 per hour.
Certain jobs may instead be offered on a fixed price-work basis, where an agreed amount is paid for completing a particular job rather than payment being calculated by the hour.
The price offered will depend on the work required and the operative's relevant skills and experience.
All fixed price-work rates will be clearly agreed before the work begins.
Typical Work
Depending on your individual skills and experience, work may include:
- General property maintenance and repairs
- Basic plumbing and toilet replacements
- Painting and decorating
- Plaster patching and minor repairs
- Basic joinery
- Tiling and re-sealing
- Fixtures, fittings and hardware replacement
- Minor property repairs
- General maintenance duties
- Other maintenance and trade work within your competence
You are not expected to be skilled in every trade.
We are looking for applicants who are experienced in several areas and, importantly, are honest about what they can and cannot competently undertake.
You will not be expected to undertake work outside your experience or competence.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have previous professional hands-on experience in property maintenance, construction or relevant trades
- Have at least 2 years of relevant practical experience
- Be capable of attending and completing suitable jobs independently
- Produce work to a professional standard
- Be reliable and punctual
- Be comfortable working in occupied residential and commercial properties
- Be polite, presentable and professional with customers
- Keep work areas clean and tidy
- Communicate effectively with Crown Finish Ltd and our customers
- Be honest about their skills, experience and limitations
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Have access to a smartphone for job information, communication and photographs

Previous Work & References
Applicants may be asked to provide:
- Photographs or examples of previous work
- Details of their trade and maintenance experience
- At least one previous employment, trade or professional reference
Being able to demonstrate the quality of your previous work will be advantageous.
Tools & Qualifications
Having your own hand tools and general trade tools is advantageous but not essential.
Requirements for specialist equipment and materials will depend on the individual job.
A valid CSCS card and relevant trade qualifications or certificates are advantageous but not essential for general maintenance work.

Customer Properties & Job Reporting
You will be representing Crown Finish Ltd while attending our customers' properties.
Operatives are therefore expected to behave professionally and respectfully at all times.
Where requested, you will be expected to:
- Take before and after photographs of work
- Provide updates on job progress
- Report additional defects or work identified
- Leave the working area clean and tidy
- Inform us immediately of any problems affecting completion of the job
Additional work must not be undertaken or agreed directly with a customer without prior authorisation from Crown Finish Ltd.
Any additional work identified should be reported so that it can be properly assessed and authorised.
Availability
Monday-Friday availability would be advantageous but is not essential.
We understand that zero-hours work needs to be flexible, and jobs can often be arranged around existing commitments.
There are no guaranteed minimum hours.
Work offered will depend on company workload, location, your availability and whether the job falls within your demonstrated skill set.
Location & Transport
Current work is primarily located within Nottingham City Centre and surrounding areas.
Having a full UK driving licence and your own transport is advantageous but not mandatory, provided you can reliably attend the agreed job location at the required time.
Potential for a Permanent Position
This position is initially offered on a zero-hours basis, with work provided according to company workload and your availability.
However, there is genuine potential for this role to develop into a permanent position as Crown Finish Ltd continues to grow and our maintenance workload increases.
Operatives who demonstrate consistently high standards of workmanship, reliability, professionalism and good customer service will be considered for more regular hours and future permanent opportunities.
