Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated decorator to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of decorating jobs on-site and in workshop environments. It will consist primarily of painting and wallpapering in commercial environments. The business consists of a team of carpenters, and mainly does interior renovations such as kitchens, bathrooms, wall panelling and door fitting. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals to contribute to diverse building projects. The position is suitable for those who are detail-oriented, professional, customer focused and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
The successful candidate will be offered a work van and supplied with necessary equipment. They will be automatically enrolled into a pension scheme, and will be entitled to sick pay and paid holiday.
Must have a clean driving license and good work ethic. The job is full time employment but part time considered. We’re based in Exeter but do work all over the South West.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling, and priming
- Apply paint, varnish, stains, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment
- Hang wallpaper and apply decorative finishes where required
- Protect furniture, floors, and fixtures before and during work
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timeframes
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times
- Communicate professionally with clients and team members
- Identify and report any issues or additional work requirements
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Painter/Decorator (or relevant trade experience)
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and finishes
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Physical ability to carry out manual work
- Full driving licence

Pay: £18.00-£23.00 per hour
