As a Fire & Security Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and optimisation of a portfolio of high-profile client sites across the Healthcare, Education, Commercial, Hospitality, and Stadia sectors. You will ensure that fire and security systems are maintained to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational performance.
Working closely with the Contract Manager and wider engineering team, you will play a key role in identifying system improvements, recommending remedial actions and upgrade opportunities, and delivering exceptional service to our customers. This position requires strong technical expertise, a proactive approach to problem solving, and a commitment to building positive relationships with both clients and colleagues.
- Manage and maintain a designated portfolio of prestigious customer sites, delivering planned preventative maintenance, reactive fault-finding, and minor works across a range of fire and security systems.
- Work across a variety of sectors including Education, Healthcare, Hospitality, Commercial, and Stadia environments, providing a varied and engaging workload.
- Service and maintain large-scale, networked fire alarm systems, including Gent, Advanced, Notifier, Kentec, Morley and other leading manufacturers.
- Accurately identify faults, carry out repairs, and provide recommendations for system enhancements, upgrades, and compliance improvements.
- Work collaboratively within a team environment, often alongside another engineer due to the scale and complexity of customer sites, ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Support the development of Apprentice and Junior Engineers through mentoring, coaching, and the sharing of technical knowledge.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and end users, delivering a professional and customer-focused service at all times.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with industry standards, company procedures, and relevant health and safety requirements.
- Participate in contract review meetings and contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives.
Who We're Looking For
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a Fire & Security or Fire Alarm Maintenance Engineer role.
- Proven experience servicing and maintaining multi-panel networked fire alarm systems.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities across a range of manufacturers and system types.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and adapt to different environments.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload priorities and work independently.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship.
- A willingness to learn, develop, and expand technical knowledge through ongoing training and professional development.
- A positive, proactive approach and a desire to maintain life safety systems to the highest industry standards.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers would be advantageous.
