Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Shuttering Carpenter to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing and installing formwork for concrete structures on various building projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse sites, utilise a range of carpentry and mechanical skills, and contribute to high-quality construction outcomes. Applicants should be physically fit, safety-conscious, and possess a strong background in carpentry and related trades. All positions are paid, including internship opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Constructing, installing, and dismantling formwork for concrete structures in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.
- Measuring and marking out dimensions accurately using hand tools and measuring devices.
- Operating power tools such as saws, drills, and grinders to cut, shape, and assemble formwork components.
- Welding metal components when required to reinforce formwork structures.
- Applying knowledge of masonry, roofing, and general carpentry to ensure formwork is properly supported and aligned.
- Handling heavy lifting tasks safely when manoeuvring formwork panels or materials into position.
- Collaborating with site managers, engineers, and other trades to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Maintaining a clean and organised work environment while adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
Skills
- Proven experience in carpentry with a focus on formwork or shuttering work.
- Proficiency with hand tools such as hammers, chisels, levels, and squares.
- Competence in operating power tools including saws, drills, grinders, and specialised shuttering equipment.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to construction activities; ability to interpret technical drawings and plans.
- Welding skills are highly desirable for metal reinforcement tasks within formwork structures.
- Experience with roofing or masonry is advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding environments.
- Valid commercial driving licence is beneficial for site transportation needs.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail; safety-conscious approach essential for working on construction sites.
