Twyford Care Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader to support our dedicated teams in delivering exceptional, person-centred mental health support across our Derby services. This role is ideal for someone with proven leadership experience in social care, supported living, or mental health settings who is passionate about making a meaningful, everyday difference.
About the Role
As a Team Leader, you will oversee the day-to-day management of Support Workers, ensuring our services remain safe, effective, and empowering for the people we support. You will lead by example—upholding high standards of practice, nurturing staff development, and promoting a compassionate, values-driven culture throughout our services.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Provide hands-on leadership and daily management for Support Workers across multiple services.
- Lead daily briefings, prioritise workloads, and allocate staff effectively.
- Maintain a visible presence within services, offering support, coaching, and direction.
- Conduct site visits, audits, and follow-ups to sustain consistent quality of care.
- Support onboarding and training to enhance staff retention and performance.
- Foster a positive, professional, and supportive team culture.
- Participate in the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support when required.
Service User Support
- Champion person-centred, respectful, and culturally sensitive care.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of individual support plans and risk assessments.
- Build strong relationships with service users, identifying and resolving issues early.
- Coordinate meetings with families, social workers, and external professionals.
- Uphold service users’ rights to choice, dignity, and independence at all times.
- Act as point of contact for financial responsibilities (“money carer” duties) and related administration.
Team Development
- Provide regular supervision, feedback, and opportunities for reflective practice.
- Support professional development through coaching, mentoring, and continuous learning.
- Lead post-incident reviews to promote shared learning and improved responses.
- Ensure clear, accurate communication through daily handovers and updates.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Oversee completion of health and safety checks, medication audits, and incident reporting.
- Promote safe working practices in line with CQC standards, legislation, and company policies.
- Report and resolve maintenance, compliance, or safeguarding concerns promptly.
- Use internal systems (e.g., Access Care, Microsoft To Do) to record actions and track progress.
Meetings & Reporting
- Prepare weekly cluster reports and share key updates with management.
- Attend management meetings and represent your services professionally.
- Record actions, follow up tasks, and maintain accurate documentation.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Team Leader, Senior Support Worker, or similar role in mental health or social care.
- NVQ Level 3 achieved, or working towards
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building capabilities.
- Ability to prioritise, motivate others, and make confident decisions under pressure.
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
- Flexibility to participate in the on-call rota.
- Legal right to live and work in the UK.
