Help Shape the Future of Policing in Surrey
Are you a Surrey resident passionate about people, recognising potential, and making a difference in your community? Surrey Police are looking for enthusiastic Interview Support Volunteers to help us identify the next generation of Police Officers, Detectives and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs).
This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in the recruitment process, supporting candidates as they take the first step towards a rewarding policing career and helping to ensure Surrey Police only recruits the very best people to be part of its team.
If you're experienced in recruiting and interviewing candidates perhaps having run your own business or having recruited for your own team professionally we would love to hear from you. Expenses will be paid and full training and coaching supplied.
As an Interview Support Volunteer, you'll work alongside our Recruitment Team and trained interview panel members to:
- Assist with Interviews and Assessment Centres for applicants looking to join policing
- Assess candidates against the rigorous national Police Recruitment Standards
- Record accurate interview notes and feedback
- Support the administration of the interview process by welcoming candidates to Surrey Police HQ
- Represent the communities of Surrey in our Recruitment processes.
We're seeking individuals who can bring enthusiasm, professionalism and a genuine interest in helping others succeed.
Ideally previous interview experience is needed but not essential, as full training and guidance will be provided. Experience of working or volunteering within a police force would be beneficial, but we welcome applications from people with a range of backgrounds ensuring we make our interview panels as representative of the communities of Surrey as possible.
You'll be someone who can:
- Communicate confidently and engage effectively with a wide range of people
- Listen carefully and ask relevant follow-up questions
- Make fair, objective and evidence-based assessments
- Work collaboratively as part of an interview panel
- Recognise potential and talent in others
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality and impartiality
Interviewing with Surrey Police is incredibly rewarding and is a real opportunity to give something back to the community you live or work in. You'll be part of supporting Our Plan and ensuring we meet the Peelian principles of policing that the police are the public and the public are the police.
