Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, motivated and dependable Van Driver to join our team as a Delivery Driver. In this vital role, you will be responsible for transporting goods efficiently and safely to various destinations, ensuring time critical deliveries while maintaining excellent customer service. Your role will involve navigating urban and rural routes, handling cargo with care, and upholding safety standards at all times. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be an essential part of our logistics operations, contributing to the smooth flow of goods and services.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate company Long Wheelbase delivery vehicles, across assigned routes
- Load and unload cargo with proper handling techniques, including heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring items are handled with care, following Health and Safety procedures including Manual Handling.
- Verify delivery addresses and ensure accurate order fulfillment
- Communicate clearly with dispatch and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and address any issues
- Plan routes effectively to maximise efficiency and meet delivery deadlines.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to maintain safety and compliance with traffic laws
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, documentation, and reports for each trip
- Maintain a clean and presentable vehicle at all times.
- Provide courteous and professional Customer Service during all deliveries and collections.
- Communicate effectively with the Transport office regarding schedules, delays or any issues encountered.
Skills
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar driving role.
- Confident driving larger vehicles in urban and rural environments.
- Strong knowledge of commercial driving regulations and safety protocols
- Excellent communication skills for interacting professionally with customers and team members
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks associated with loading and unloading cargo
- Demonstrated ability to navigate efficiently using GPS or maps in various environments
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
