Forklift Truck Operator
Location: Lockerbie Sawmills (multi-site) DG11 2SQ
Contract: Full time, permanent.
About the role:
We are looking for a Forklift Truck Operator to join our busy Lockerbie Sawmills. Reporting to the yard supervisor and supply chain manager, you will play a crucial role in our timber processing operations.
Whilst a lot of the tasks are automated, there will be some degree of manual handling, lifting, bending and twisting.
Hours of work are 47.5 hrs per week Monday to Friday
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Operating a forklift truck to ensure the safe and efficient movement of timber products and loading of hauliers.
- Collaborating with other team members to maintain safe efficient workflow.
- Conducting routine inspections of equipment and reporting any issues promptly.
- Rigorously adhering to health and safety guidelines and promoting a safe working environment.
- Provide cover across the site as required.
- Be proactive and ensure effective and efficient work areas.
Skills and Experience:
- Valid forklift truck operator certification (5 tonne counterbalance minimum)
- Experience in timber processing or related industries would be an advantage.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
