T-Cypher Bio is an early-stage, innovative biotechnology company aiming to unlock an expansive target space to build a pipeline of novel, T-cell receptor (TCR)-based therapeutics. We are seeking a highly motivated protein engineer with knowledge in molecular biology and protein production to advance our bispecific engineering pipeline.
What you will do
The primary focus of this role will be to execute experiments relating to the screening & characterisation of soluble TCR proteins that are part of our therapeutic pipeline. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of molecular biology and soluble protein production, and be familiar with standard molecular biology software and databases.
Key Responsibilities
- Clone constructs for protein expression, using a range of molecular biology techniques
- Produce soluble TCR proteins using high-throughput protein expression systems and purification methods
- Characterise TCR proteins using various biochemical and biophysical techniques such as SDS-PAGE, HPLC, and differential scanning fluorimetry (DSF)
- Contribute to group and project meetings, offering insights to advance research projects
- Prioritisation of personal workloads and coordination of scientific workstreams and processes
- Analyse and record experimental results and communicate findings to the team and to management
- Maintain and implement good laboratory practices, including accurate laboratory notebook systems, instrument and reagent maintenance, and personnel safety precautions
To be successful you will need
- BSc or MSc in Biochemistry, Cell or Molecular Biology, Molecular Immunology, or a related discipline with relevant hands-on experience within industry or academia
- Hands on experience in molecular biology techniques, including PCR, DNA assembly methods (e.g. HiFi), agarose gel electrophoresis, bacterial transformation and culture, DNA preparation (miniprep and midiprep scale), DNA quantification by Nanodrop or fluorescence based methods (e.g. Qubit), and bead cleanup protocols
- Proficient in expression of soluble recombinant proteins in mammalian cells (e.g. CHO, HEK), and purification by affinity capture methods
- Expertise in biochemical techniques for protein characterisation e.g. SDS-PAGE gel analysis, HPLC, western blot and DSF
- Analysing & presenting results in a concise and accurate manner to the wider team
- Ability to adapt to multiple roles in a matrixed, fast-paced and evolving company
- Enjoy working towards challenging goals in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to follow protocols and SOPs
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a laboratory environment
- Strong organisational and communication skills (both written and verbal)
