Personal Assistant / Befriender Support Worker
Location: Elgin Hours: 6 hours per week (2 x 3-hour sessions)
Pay: £16.88 per hour funded through Direct Payments
We are looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Personal Assistant/Befriender to support a lady who has had a stroke. The role focuses on companionship, promoting independence, and enabling her to enjoy meaningful activities in the local community.

About the Role
The successful applicant will provide support during one 3-hour session each week, accompanying her on community outings and encouraging social engagement.
Activities may include:
● Visiting cafés and coffee shops
● Going out for ice cream
● Visiting art galleries, exhibitions, or craft activities
● Spending time outdoors in parks, gardens, or other accessible places
● Providing companionship and encouraging confidence and independence
She has had a stroke and has limited mobility. She uses a wheelchair when out in the community as she is unable to walk long distances. You will support her to safely access venues and enjoy outings at her own pace, always promoting her dignity, independence, and choice.
Some personal care may occasionally be required, such as assisting with toileting or providing reassurance and practical support while out in the community. Any personal care will always be carried out respectfully, preserving her dignity and independence.
About You

● Comfortable providing occasional personal care when required
● Able to work independently while respecting individual preferences

Previous experience in care, support work, or befriending is desirable but not essential. A caring nature and the ability to build a trusting relationship are the most important qualities.
A satisfactory PVG check and suitable references will be required.
Additional Information
This position is funded through Direct Payments. The successful applicant will provide personalised, person-centred support to enable choice, independence, and meaningful community participation.
As there is no mobility vehicle available, applicants should indicate how they would support community access. This may include using their own suitably insured vehicle or public transport.
