Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Chef to join our kitchen team at The Courtyard Bar & Restaurant. Working under the guidance of our Head Chef, you will primarily be responsible for preparing and plating starters and desserts while learning all aspects of our kitchen operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their culinary career, with a clear pathway to progressing onto the main section as your skills and confidence grow.
Please note: Any salary shown in this advert is for illustration purposes only. The contract salary is negotiable and will be agreed with the successful candidate based on experience, skills, and contracted hours.
Duties
- Prepare and present starters and desserts to a consistently high standard.
- Assist the Head Chef with daily food preparation and mise en place.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared in line with recipes, presentation standards, and portion control.
- Maintain exceptional food hygiene and cleanliness throughout your section.
- Follow all food safety regulations and HACCP procedures.
- Assist with stock rotation, deliveries, and inventory management.
- Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality.
- Support the wider kitchen team wherever required.
- Continuously develop your culinary skills with the aim of progressing to the mains section.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a professional kitchen is desirable but not essential.
- A genuine passion for cooking and a willingness to learn.
- Understanding of basic food preparation techniques.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety practices (Level 2 Food Hygiene is desirable).
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A positive attitude, reliability, and excellent teamwork skills.
